Vincent Ekow Assafuah (born 27 September 1990) is a Ghanaian politician and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), serving as the Member of Parliament for the Old-Tafo Constituency in the Ashanti Region. He assumed office on 7 January 2021 following his landslide victory in the 2020 general elections.

Overview

Before becoming an MP, Assafuah served as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Education, where he played an essential role in communication and public relations. He was also appointed as the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development in 2024 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Hon. Assafuah is widely recognised as one of Ghana's most promising young parliamentarians — combining a strong academic background in law, finance, and public policy with hands-on constituency development work that has transformed the lives of residents across Old Tafo.

Early Life & Education

Vincent Ekow Assafuah was born to Polykarp Assafuah and Paulina Assafuah in Kumasi, Ghana. He attended Martyrs of Uganda Junior High School before proceeding to study General Arts at St. Hubert's Seminary in Kumasi.

Career

Vincent Assafuah began his career in public service by contesting for the position of National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) National President, a role he secured after an earlier bid for the USAG presidential election. He was appointed as a special assistant to the Second Lady Samira Bawumia from 2015 to 2017.

Assafuah served as the acting Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2017, and later as the Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Education in 2018 — building a reputation for strategic communication and policy engagement at the national level.

In June 2020, Assafuah contested for the Old Tafo Constituency seat and won the NPP primaries with 299 votes, securing the nomination against five other contenders.

Vincent Ekow Assafuah is a devout Catholic and a member of the Knight & Ladies of Blessed Sacrament (Mass Server/Alter Boy). He is also a member of the Knight & Ladies of Marshall.

He continues to be a passionate advocate for public service, education, and community development. His work in Parliament and public service has earned him recognition as a young leader genuinely committed to improving the lives of the people in his constituency and across Ghana.
